WebGL is a javascript application programming interface that allows interactive 2D and 3D graphics to be rendered within a compatible web browser. It is notable because it does not require the use of plugins. As well as javascript control code WebGL uses Shader code written for a user's graphics card. It is based on OpenGL ES 2.0. WebGL is supported by every popular browser.
